Cieza Riverside Walk in Autumn, photo Cieza in Your Hand.
Throughout the area where the Segura River flows alongside Cieza, efforts have been made over the years to create and integrate a promenade into the natural environment, located on the right bank, where athletes, residents, and all residents in general can take their daily walks and exercise in a more natural and accessible way. This is how the Paseo Ribereño (River Walk) was born.
The Cieza City Council has decided to implement measures to maintain and integrate the forest into its natural environment, as well as to restore it to its riparian forest, seeking to protect it from the massive growth and development of common reed.
This nature walk is visited daily by local residents, visitors, and tourists alike. Along the way, we find typical vegetable gardens, and both ancient and more modern buildings, such as the Teodoro Mill, now also a tourist information point; the Atalaya Rural Complex and Hostel; the well-known suspension bridge, known by everyone as the Wire Bridge; and the most recently built bridge, the Argaz Bridge. This entire route runs alongside the Segura River, beneath Mount Atalaya, with the image of our fortress and the town of Cieza on the left bank, and the Castle, the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Success, patron saint of Cieza, its cross, and the great peak of Atalaya on the right bank, making a stroll along this walk a pleasure for the senses.
