The mayor of Cieza, Tomás Rubio, presided over the institutional reception for the groups participating in the 35th Segura River International Folklore Festival this Friday, at an event attended by a large representation of the municipal council. This event is a prelude to the festival session, which will take place tonight at 9:00 p.m. at the Capitol Theater.
Representatives of the Philippine Cultural Arts Society of British Columbia (Philippines), Muzsla Folk Dance Ensemble (Hungary), Ben-Gara Cultural Association (Canary Islands), and Francisco Salzillo Choirs and Dances of Cieza took part in the reception held in the plenary hall, where the invited groups had the opportunity to exchange gifts with the hosts and the Cieza City Council.
The mayor welcomed the three groups invited to this year's competition, which is now in its thirty-fifth edition, wishing them a "very pleasant" stay in a city known for its hospitality. For his part, the president of the Cieza Choirs and Dancers, Jesús Saorín, thanked the City Council for its support in holding the festival.
