Amparo Pino, a councilor in the Cieza municipal government, passed away this Tuesday morning. Mayor Tomás Rubio has declared three days of official mourning, which means flags will be flown at half-staff on municipal buildings and official events will be suspended.

The plenary sessions called for this Wednesday, an extraordinary budget session and the regular session for the month of September, will be held "at the express request of the family and at the wishes of the deceased," according to sources from the Mayor's Office.

The mayor has publicly expressed his grief over the loss of Amparo Pino, stating, "Today we are overcome with profound sadness. We have lost our colleague and friend Amparo Pino, a dedicated, approachable person, always willing to give her all for Cieza. Her way of working, her joy, and her humanity leave an indelible mark on all of us who shared with her so many hours of effort and enthusiasm for our municipality, especially in support of the most vulnerable, inclusion, the elderly, women, and people with disabilities. On behalf of the entire governing team and myself, I want to send a big hug and all our love to her family and loved ones during this very painful time."
