Cieza-born race walker Manuel Bermúdez was welcomed by the mayor, Tomás Rubio, to the town hall, accompanied by his coach, José Antonio Carrillo, to commemorate his eighth place individual finish and silver medal in the team race at the 35-km European Race Walk Championships, held on May 18 in Podebrady (Czech Republic).

In this event, the Cieza native secured his ticket to the next World Championships in Tokyo, which will be held next September.

At the event, the walker displayed the silver medal he had won, and the mayor presented him with a city flag that he will wear with them to the World Championships.
