Fifty students from the San José Obrero Primary School in Cieza are working to develop a virtual street map of the municipality. This project aims to serve as a reference for the many students who join the school from other countries and, as such, are unfamiliar with how to navigate the streets of Cieza.

The Regional Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Víctor Marín, noted that "this is one of the 56 educational innovation projects approved by the Regional Ministry of Education, which are being developed by educational centers to ensure that students learn different cognitive and formative skills in a more practical way, while strengthening the sense of teamwork among students as they support each other to achieve success."

To document this new virtual street map, the students conducted radio interviews with various local figures, as well as with writers who have researched the streets of Cieza.

Similar to the well-known Google Maps

Similar to the well-known Google Maps, a new map of Cieza's streets will be created, but with shortcuts to various videos. Simply clicking on them will show students from the San José Obrero Primary School recounting the history of that street or location. This will also serve as a reference source for tourists exploring the town's streets.

This is a completely free app that will be promoted on the streets through an advertising campaign on Cieza's billboards, where posters made by students will be displayed with a QR code that serves as a direct link to the street map so that anyone can access it.

The students developed this project in the Center's Classroom of the Future. The counselor explained the importance of these classrooms, which "employ flexible learning spaces by integrating technologies and establishing six learning areas: research, exploration, interaction, development, creation, and presentation."

This is the first year this street map has been created, but the initiative has a long history, as a series of YouTube videos titled "DocuCieza" were previously produced, showcasing the school's commitment to awareness, sustainability, and environmental discovery.
